
I-75 Corridor Design Consultant [CDC] Project Experience
Interstate I-75 Managed Lanes Design Builds; From SR 826 in Miami-Dade County to I-595 in Broward County, FL.; FPID No.: 430763-2-32 & 430763-3-32 [01/2012 – 02/2018]
GCME served as CDC’s only Geotechnical Subconsultant in the project development, procurement support, and design management of the $700 million I-75 Express Lanes project in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. The project received the 2019 American Council of Engineers Companies of Florida award as the Outstanding Design-Build Project. This project involved performing field exploration, laboratory testing and engineering services for proposed bridge widenings, new bridges, MSE and sound barrier walls and prepare the GDR to be included as part of the RFP package delivered to the shortlisted firms for preparation of their bid package. GCME oversaw the preparation of the GDR and assisted FDOT/CDC Team to prepare the RFP package, review and evaluate the ELOIs & Technical Proposals for all five (5) Segments as detailed below. Mr. Ghosh with GCME, Inc. served as the Geotechnical Task Leader for review of all geotechnical reports/documents prepared for the project by the DB Teams for all 5 segments, A, B, C, D & E. GCME oversaw all geotechnical design reviews and design related issues during construction.
• Segment A: From NW 170th Street to South of HEFT, Miami-Dade County
• Segment B: From South of HEFT to South Miramar Parkway, Miami-Dade & Broward Counties
• Segment C: From South of Miramar Parkway to South of Sheridan Street, Broward County
• Segment D: From South of Sheridan Street to North of Griffin Road, Broward County
• Segment E: From North of Griffin Road to Interstate I-595
Project Construction Cost: $ 700 Million

GCME Role: GCME provided Geotechnical Services as follows:
Phase 1:
- Bridges: 50 SPT borings @ 85 to 110 ft depth & associated Laboratory Testing
- Retaining Walls: 60 SPT borings @ 40 to 60 ft depth & associated Laboratory Testing
- Sound Walls: 137 SPT borings @ 30 ft depth & associated Laboratory Testing
- Roadway: 42 Auger borings @ 10 ft depth & associated Laboratory Testing
Phase 2:
- Bridges: 40 SPT borings @ 85 ft depth & associated Laboratory Testing
- Retaining Walls: 22 SPT borings @ 40 ft depth & associated Laboratory Testing
Phase 3:
- Preliminary engineering required as per FDOT design standards to develop the Technical Criteria Package for the all five (5) Segments
- Preparation of the RFP Documents for all five (5) Segments
- Review & Evaluation of ELOIs submitted by Design Build Teams, and provide engineering input to the FDOT TRC members
- Review of all geotechnical reports/documents prepared for the project by the Design-Build Firms’ geotechnical subconsultant
- Oversaw all geotechnical design reviews and design related issues during construction
